Cataract refers to cloudiness of the natural lens inside the eye. It is an exceedingly common condition, affecting some 30 million Americans. The typical “age-related” cataract usually develops in the sixth decade of life, but can occur earlier.

Symptoms caused by cataract include difficulty with night driving, difficulty reading, trouble with glare on sunny days or from oncoming headlights, or generalized blurriness of vision.

Cataract surgery is the most common operation performed worldwide. The goal is to remove the cloudy lens and replace it with a new clear artificial lens that will remain inside the eye permanently. It is a painless outpatient procedure that only takes about 15 minutes.

Cataract surgery is a huge opportunity to correct vision and reduce dependence on glasses. By using a more advanced multifocal intraocular lens, you may never have to pick up a pair of glasses again, even to read!

At Davies Eye Center, we perform state-of-the-art laser-assisted cataract surgery. This results in a gentler, safer, more accurate procedure. We have expertise in every available intraocular lens, including toric lenses for the correction of astigmatism and multifocal lenses such as the Alcon Panoptix to remove the need for reading glasses.

We look forward to helping design your plan to achieve total visual clarity and freedom!
